I’ve been wrong for so long. Clinging to a belief that love would save me. All along I had what I desired in my own blood. I unsheathed the power from inside my own body and watched fires ignite at the tips of my fingertips.

Worn out dreams

Sometimes you don’t see yourself growingDSC00163

until you look back to where you were

at this time last year

to realize

flowers have bloomed

from the cracks in your chest.

Self-love isn’t a war you can conquer once.

It’s a daily battle to remind yourself:

you are not perfect,

but you are trying.

It’s taken some time, but I had the greatest revelation about my own mental health:

Sometimes, your mental health matters more than an old dream that’s keeping you up at night.

If you’re constantly stressed out over your work, why are you doing it?

Why aren’t you seeking something that honors what you believe in?

The cards you dealt yourself don’t have to be the cards you keep, in fact, maybe you were seeing an ace of spades when all along it was merely a 2 of hearts.

You don’t have to continue to pursue something you no longer dream to be, forget the expectations you set for yourself as well as the ones others have for you.

You’re the one who is living your life. You don’t have to do anything out of obligation or a belief that other people will think more highly of you because of it.

Your degree of success is measured by how happy you are.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t put in work, I’m demanding that you find your passion and don’t stop pursuing it. Find that thing that makes you happy, the place where you can speak directly from your heart, and watch your demeanor change.

If you don’t love what you’re doing, you will make excuses and remain stagnant. You will only give it half of what you’re made of.

The world deserves the you who chases her dreams. The woman who radiates so much happiness, others feel it, too.

Let go of the stress.

Let go of your worn out dreams that no longer spark a flame in your heart.

Get introspective and figure out what you are here to do right now, and in five years, if that no longer serves you, let it go.

You’re not bound to your dreams for life.

finally sitting in lotus pose

There is darkness

and there is light

I am a little of both…

I can finally sit –somewhat– comfortably in lotus pose! This has been the hardest pose to get into for me. I never would have thought a flexibility pose would make me feel more accomplished than the strength poses I have gotten into so far.

Flexibility is not something I’ve always possessed, in fact it’s extremely hard for me. This wasn’t something I could power through, I had to listen to my body and allow it to slowly open up to the stretch. It took three YEARS.

Anything is possible if you devote enough time to your practice.
